Check how long title terms are shortened in a thumbnail preview

See how MyThumbTester shortens an over-wide URL, hashtag, or other unbroken title term with an ellipsis in a narrow preview.

A Sidebar title diagram showing a long unbroken title term being shortened with an ellipsis so it remains inside a narrow text area.
Enter the exact title term and check whether the visible prefix before the ellipsis still identifies the video.

An over-wide term is shortened, not allowed to spill out

When a URL, hashtag, filename, handle, or product code is wider than a MyThumbTester title area, the local renderer shortens that term and adds an ellipsis. It measures the available width character by character, keeping only the visible prefix plus the ellipsis. This is a reproducible behavior of the illustrative preview renderer, not a prediction of click-through rate, ranking, distribution, or views.

Choose Sidebar, Watch page Up next, or Home feed and enter the exact title you plan to publish. An over-wide unbroken term should remain inside the title area and end with an ellipsis instead of extending beyond the layout.

Check whether the visible prefix still identifies the video

A title can look complete in a wide editor but show only a prefix in a 168 by 94 px Sidebar card. Keep the image and all other inputs fixed, then compare the exact title in a wide layout and the smallest layout you expect to use. The visual question is simple: does the visible prefix still identify the video before the ellipsis?

Do not use a generic placeholder for this check. The useful evidence is the exact handle, URL-like phrase, or code that you intend to publish because its characters and punctuation determine where the local renderer adds the ellipsis.

Revise the source title when the shortened version is unclear

Keep the image fixed while you turn one unbroken term into a readable phrase, remove an unnecessary prefix, or move the central noun earlier. Return to the same narrow preview and check whether the visible prefix now says enough before any ellipsis. One text change at a time makes the review repeatable.

Export the selected PNG once the title remains inside the layout and the visible wording still carries its part of the message. The exported preview records the illustrative result you checked; it is not an audience test.

What this wrap check cannot answer

A preview cannot determine how another platform will truncate a title in every live interface, whether a viewer will click, or how a video will perform. Use it only to inspect the visible width-aware shortening behavior in MyThumbTester illustrative layouts.
